Nantucket is not a backdrop to this work. It is a small town with limited land, real infrastructure, competing needs, and decisions whose effects stay close to home.
Public service
Finance Committee
Stephen served on Nantucket’s Finance Committee for more than a decade, through June 2025. The work centered on municipal budgets, capital requests, and the tradeoffs between them.

Planning Board service provided direct experience with land use and the public process around change.
Nonprofit service · 2024–current
Habitat for Humanity Nantucket
Stephen joined the Board of Directors in 2024 and has served as president since 2026, adding a direct, community-based perspective on housing and the work required to create it.
Questions worth staying with
Housing. Land use. Infrastructure. A year-round economy.
These subjects do not have tidy answers. They require looking at competing interests, constraints, and consequences over time—the same discipline required in business and in town government.
